This craft storage unit is wonderful to say the least. Not only does it have 2 shelves in the front, it also had 3 drawers and a kind of box area enclosed on all sides. The front is the same height or depth as the 3 drawers. The 2 shelves are the same size. About 8 3/4″ X 14 1/2″ and they will hold baskets or containers of things. You could even use one of them for pattern books of crafts. I have a lot of experimenting to do to see which crafts supplies I want to use it for. There is a nice area on the back top that is divided into 3 spaces for putting things like your scissors, drawing pens or what have you. They are 4″ deep and will hold all sorts of items. The back side, has 4 removable dowels for putting your craft ribbon or package wrapping ribbon on. One note about the dowels, they are just over the size of a dime so the spools of most ribbon won’t fit on them unless you trim them to fit. There are a number of different things you can store on the dowels: “Balls” of crochet Thread, Spools of wrapping Ribbon, Craft Ribbon, short rolls of wrapping paper…Use your imagination. I’m going to. Down at the bottom, there is a nice cubby area so you could store things in it as well. An Idea I had was to put the wrapping paper rolls upright in the side you unscrew and have the rolls of ribbon on the other side to keep everything nice and neat. There are so many different ways you can use this unit it will be hard to settle on just one. You may need to buy more units. Two of the 4 wheels are locking ones and you put them on in a caddy corner method. That will keep it from rolling when you don’t want it to. If 2 people put it together it’s supposed to only take 30 min. and that’s probably spot on. I did it myself so it took longer and I stopped now and then for a break to read the next steps to get them down pat before continuing. I reinforced the fronts of the drawers with a spot of glue on both ends of the dowels because they weren’t a snug fit so had a little bit of a gap and you don’t want that as I think it would weaken the dowel and this is a piece of furniture you want to last a life time. The front bottoms have the metal unit so they are nice and snug anyway. Being white, it will go with everything decor wise. This unit isn’t made of press board or the like. It’s nice smooth wood that’s been painted white in all the areas that will be showing. Another tip, I just used a screw driver that’s 4 in one, I think it might be quicker to use 2 separate ones instead so you aren’t having to change the head for the one you want. No other tools are needed. [...]
