If the new Audi A5 Sportback’s flair for nourishing the senses is not quote enough, its average fuel efficiency figure of 62.8mpg is to be praised. Driving on assorted roads around Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire for an hour, I achieved an average of 56mpg. That’s not at all bad, considering how heavy footed I can be.

Anticipate paying £38,970 for the new A5 Sportback S line 2.0 TDI quattro 190PS S tronic. It’s relatively affordable at first glance, but you could end up digging a lot deeper into your pockets if you pander to Audi’s options inventory.
