Pros:-Metal part is solid construction-Solid mount-Makes my life easierCons:-Float seems super chintzy-It doesn’t mount plumb, so you have to compensate for that when mounting it.-There’s no drainExtra comments:I’m using this for my dog’s water bowl. She’s in training with it right now because she’s super scared of the hissing sound the water intake makes.I used a threaded steel hose, and it works perfectly. I added a bulkhead for the drain which I bought on Amazon because my big box store didn’t have them. The bulkhead is mounted behind the raised bump in the dish because the bump is where the protector plate (with the hole in it) stops to protect the float. The other materials I used, such as the black pipe in the pics and the brown fittings are Rain Bird brand drip irrigation system materials (which sometimes don’t work great depending on one’s application, just FYI). I used those because the dish is mounted pretty far from any faucet.List of extra materials I used:-bulk head with a 1/2″ male fitting-ball valve with 1/2″ female fittings-1/2″ Rain Bird drip tubing (black)- 2 Rain Bird 1/2″ threaded/barb male fittings (brown)- Rain Bird faucet to drip hose adapter (not pictured)-Teflon tape-Mounting screws, bolts and nuts with washers, 2 pieces of wood- A piece of pvc pipe (spray painted black) to protect the black tubingAfter it’s all said and done, everything works just like I wanted it to. Overall I’d rate it 4 stars because of there being no drain for a product that needs to be mounted.
